Council member Hillard decided to run for City Council because she wanted to make a difference in the community. She has always enjoyed participating in local/community events. She helped coordinate Oakcliff Estates First Easter Egg Hunt at English Oak Park. It was a joy seeing the excitement on the children's face's. The whole community came together and had a wonderful time. As a new Council Member, Ms. Hillard would like to continue to bring that "togetherness" back to the City of Doraville. She is a paralegal for a law firm located in Brookhaven. She also has her Real Estate license, and is licensed through all of Georgia, and will use her knowledge and expertise in both residential and commercial real estate to make the best decisions for the city, our residents and it's growth. Council Member Hillard loves that Doraville is so diverse and rich in culture. The residents of Doraville are what really bring this city to life. Ms. Hillard feels that Doraville needs to focus on what is best for the city's residents and their needs. She would like to see the city move towards more community friendly agendas that encourage positive growth and residents come together as a whole. She is encouraged by the new growth with the Assembly and Nexus project. The positive new growth attracts the attention of people looking for a city to call home. Council member Hillard’s top priorities she would like to address as council member:
- Bring the Community Back Together through community events and programs
- Improve Pedestrian Access, Parks and Green Space
- Push for Better Schools or Ways to Decrease the Overcrowding
- Push for Revenue Generating Businesses that are Favored by Residents
- Push for a More Efficient City Budget
Ms. Hillard’s personal hero is her mother. She has always been a positive role model in Ms. Hillard’s life, with a great attitude that radiates to all who come in contact with her. Council Member Hillard resides in Doraville with her husband Charlie, and their children, Katie and Andrew.
